Why should success as an affiliate be reliant on the size of your list? Why shouldn’t anyone be able to meet someone, introduce them to a cool program (say The Big Weekend) and receive a referral commission for their efforts?
And why shouldn’t the payout be exactly the same amount as the report? These are the questions that drove us absolutely bonkers as we ventured into the confusing and often dark ride that is the world of affiliate marketing.
And then the big question: Why does it have to be so freaking complicated? The Big Answer: It doesn’t.

The affiliate industry as it exists has programs of every shape and form with varying prospects of earning potential. On the surface, the opportunity to make an income based on simply spreading the word about a company’s product or service is extremely attractive to the sharp and ambitious. Unfortunately although the promise was large, the payout rarely met the expectation.
The programs continually over promised and under delivered and did not provide the realistic opportunity to build a solid revenue base unless you already happened to be a top producing internet marketer with a large database. Although there are bright spots along the often dark midway of affiliate programs, the overall result has been a lack of consistency and lack of trust on the part of the affiliate. It has been a lose/lose game of chance.
We thought this was unacceptable…
We thought an affiliate program should not resemble a house cards built by chance. It should be the cornerstone of the business model, the rock on which you build your foundation…
So we set out to create the Life University Affiliate Program. We set out to create a system that lived up to expectations. Notice we didn’t say “exceed expectations” or “blow you away” or “exponentially increase your earning potential”... no hype, no internet guru’s.
We simply wanted to create a program that had authentic value and real opportunity for our students and faculty – regardless of how big or small your current circle of influence happens to be.
And hey, if your results eventually exceed our expectations then we will celebrate your success with you, but our goal is to simply deliver what we promise: Accurate tracking, accurate payments, top notch support and a lot of really cool people to play with.
So how do you create a better affiliate program?
Step 1:Exhaustive research began into what programs existed in multiple industries. We used our own experience, interviewed successful (and unsuccessful) affiliates and spent hours investigating existing affiliate programs from the customer perspective.
Step 2: The Uncovery Process allowed us to take the information, and identify the top customer irritants of existing affiliate programs. We then generated a list of the top 5, which are (in no particular order)...
1.Lack of training and tools
2.Poor communication & tracking
3.Actual payout was lower than promised
4.Only 1 level of payment/limited growth
5.Low percentage of high profits
Step 3: Create an awesome affiliate program using the information that met the needs of our students a faculty and provided real opportunity for everyone to generate income that matched their efforts with the constant goal of creating a program that alleviated the inadequacies of a broken system and that would earn the trust of our students. Phew!
Where there was frustration, we strove for satisfaction...
Where there was a lack of ethics, we strove for an honest deliverables...
Where there was disorganization, we strove for systemization...
We created a program that exemplified the Life University Code of Ethics (link on web) and that would meet the expectations of our students and faculty.
